2012: The Conclusion, and Beyond

As 2012 comes to a conclusion and we start to prepare to move into 2013, it is a time to not only reflect on the past 348 days of mayhem and how far we’ve come, but also to plot out the future and what it may bring. I can’t say that I have much of anything conclusive for 2013 as a whole in the works yet, but it’s certainly getting off to a good start with these two show announcements.

First up: For Your Eyes Only: A Spy Affair

As has been the tradition for more years then I’ve been of legal age, Madison’s Club Inferno will play host once again to a wild and crazy themed NYE event that is entirely too cool for bar time (Okay, so every party on NYE in Madison has the option to be too cool for bar time, but it still sounds impressive). This year, we bring you a spy party! Bond, Archer, Mission:Impossible, Spy V Spy: if it involves spies or secret agents, then it’s fair game! Musical entertainment for the evening will be two verses sets: Dyreckt vs. Jean le Duke,  Whiterabbit vs. psych0tron, and a special opening set by DJ Cosmic.

After everyone’s had a bit to recover from New Years, next up we have the Midwest’s only two-day indoor music festival: Winter Warmer 2013: Force of Nature

Celebrating it’s 3rd year of tangible proof that the Midwest’s EDM scene knows how to throw a helluva party, Winter Warmer is back and taking over the entire Olympia Resort, a short drive from Milwaukee, to bring you 8 stages full of national, regional, and local musical talent for two full nights of beats, visuals, vendors, and one kick-ass party. I’ll be throwing down a prime time DJ set at the psytrance stage on night one of this epic event on January 11th-12th.

I’ve got a few things in the early planning stages going forward in 2013, but those will have to wait for a later time when they’re a bit more developed. I, like many other DJs and musicians, also have my “top picks of 2012″ list in the works, but generally make a point of waiting until shortly after New Years to share it since there’s inevitably a few solid releases at the end of every year that are worth mentioning. Rather then make them wait a full year before getting a nod, you folks will have to wait on that a couple more weeks.

Lastly, I’d like to take a brief moment to share my condolences, shock, sadness, and utter disgust with certain aspects of humanity that flew into everyone’s face this morning when the news broke about the massacre of 27 people, including 20 young children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. I would also like to express those same sentiments for the 22 children and one adult in the Chinese village of Chengping who were wounded by a disturbed knife-wielding individual outside of their primary school this same morning. Tragedies like this happen quite a bit more often then a lot of folks realize when it’s not in their back yard, and I think the saddest and scariest part of the whole thing is that people don’t realize that simple truth. I’m not going to jump on either side of the inevitable gun control debates that have already begun, but simply ask that you treasure what you have and don’t take the little things for granted. I’d also ask for people to be decent human beings and give these victims and their family the space they need to mourn, cope, and try to get on with their lives but the vultures that are American mainstream media and a bunch of blatant opportunistic politicians have already shown that isn’t going to happen. You win some, and you lose some: today, we as a species lost.

All Systems Go!

Now that the archives of posts from the old site are copied over for historical purposes, it’s time to start anew.

First off, if you didn’t already land here due to a social media link, then let me point out the Facebook and Twitter accounts that will contain, among other things, links to all site updates moving forward. There’s links to both of them in the upper right here (unless you’re reading this well after the post date and I’ve since gone OCD and redid the layout):

Next up, all of the pictures and audio pages on here are current up to today. I do have a couple of new audio mixes in the works specifically highlighting my psytrance sets that should be up soon and will have subsequent posts noting their availability for public consumption, which will then post to the aforementioned social networks and you get updated the same way you get all of your lulcat, political, and meme fixes on Twitter and Facebook.

Neat? I thought so.

My public set lists are maintained externally. Serato.com has a very nice interface that I pour my set lists into directly from my performance software, and see no reason to re-invent the wheel. You’ll find a link to my profile on there to your left (previous clause about OCD layout changes still applies), or here.

Lastly, some current show pimping!

Saturday, November 17th marks the final REVERB event of 2012. As a special treat, we’re bringing back one of the most popular formats from Inferno Nightclub’s 2011 calender: Chronotrigger! For the folks that are unfamiliar, the way it works is each hour represents a different block of time. As the evening progresses, the time blocks chronologically advance until we reach current material by the end of the night. For this special event, we’ll be covering 1993 up to 2012 with five of Inferno’s long-standing Saturday DJs. You can check out the full schedule for the event, address, and RSVP info if you feel inclined on the night’s Facebook event found here.

I have a couple more shows coming up before the end of the year as well as early 2013, and you’ll see them on here as final confirmations happen and the line-ups become public. Stay tuned!

Coming to you live, from the Internets

Layout for the new site is complete, audio and visual content is live, and the archives of posts from the old site should be making their way to the new one over the course of the next day or so. Feels kinda nice to finally have a modernized website up and live with current content.

The archives of audio, fliers, and live photos from the old site can be found on the tabs above, with nifty modern embedding technology for your viewing and listening pleasure. Plenty of new content on those fronts will be forthcoming as well.

In addition to current residency at Inferno Nightclub, there’s also a couple of big show announcements coming up soon, so stay tuned for more details.

Lastly, as noted below, any parties interested in booking can feel free to contact me at psych0tron@psych0tron.com to set something up.

October 25th 2011

No news is good news? Indeed.

Performed recently with my long-time partner in tag-team DJing, DJ Mindphaser, at the opening night of Re-Animate, as well as the one-off event at Inferno: Reverb. Excellent time on both fronts.

Also, I will be appearing on 11/11/11 with Sensuous Enemy at Club Inferno, performing with OncetheSun and Thought Thieves. This will be my first show back with them after a hiatus for the past several years, this time as a live keyboardist.

Lastly, I am actively seeking DJ bookings in and around the Madison area with an emphasis on dark electronic, industrial, EBM/synthpop, or psytrance. Interested parties: please feel free to contact me at psych0tron@psych0tron.com with any questions.

May 26th 2011

Half way through the limited runs of Chronotrigger, and I must say that they have been some of the more challenging events I’ve performed in. The limited time frames to chose tracks from, especially when working with time slots from the 80s and early 90s, is a unique aspect for everyone involved. The crowds have been digging it pretty thoroughly thus far, and we’ve got a few more in store. Be sure to keep an eye here as well as Club Inferno’s site for updates on the schedule and monthly DJ rosters.

“Every 3rd Saturday through August, Inferno is proud to present CHRONOTRIGGER — a chronological retrospective of the best hard club beats from the past 30 years! Featuring a revolving line-up of veteran DJs and hosted by DJ WHITERABBIT, every hour will feature only tracks from a specific time period, advancing chronologically through the night. This event is limited to a short run of only six dates, and returns to Inferno every 3rd Saturday through August 2011; don’t miss this unique chance to chronologically relive three decades of the best hard club beats!”

UPDATE: Recording of the last hour of the May Chronotrigger is now up in the audio section. Check it!

March 14th 2011

3 years later, a site update!

The number of shows that have happened since my last update are to numerous to even begin to recall, so we’ll just start with the recent. This past weekend marked my first night evar(!) spinning psy-trance to a live crowd for the night PULSE. Certainly a new realm of live dark electronic for me, and it seemed to go over very well. Check the audio section for a recording of the night.

This coming weekend is the first of several regular Chronotrigger nights, which I will be taking part in. To steal the official blurb rather then write my own summary: “Every 3rd Saturday through August, Inferno is proud to present CHRONOTRIGGER — a chronological retrospective of the best hard club beats from the past 30 years!

August 7th 2007

Life’s been good and busy lately, so the site fell a bit behind. So here’s whats coming up.

This month’s HaL0 has come and gone. First time in a while it was just myself and DJ Mindphaser, and good times were had. Coming up this month still, I will be guesting with DJ Koob for Chrome at Club Inferno, and this month’s installment of Fetish Night at the Cardinal Bar will have myself, DJ Whiterabbit, and Mike Carlson providing the beats.

Word.

March 16th, 2007

Playlist update: check.

Next month’s shows: check.

The usual Cardinal Bar Fetish Night and Club Inferno HaL0 are both a go, but with a rather interesting twist. Fetish night is on April 10th, Hal0 is the 11th, and I celebrate another rotation around the sun on the 11th. Expect a few guest appearances on both nights to be (hopefully) announced soon, and be sure to come out and help me celebrate another year of existance!

Lastly, Saturday April 28th will be another evening of rarely-paired-up DJs at Club Inferno as myself and DJ Koob team up for the first time since November of 2004 to deliver the beats for Chrome!
